A Century of Tradition

1905-1955

Birth

In 1905, a sawmill was established at the site where the factory now stands in Preddvor. After rapid growth and a merger with the Gorenje Forest Economy, the inter-cooperative timber combine JELOVICA Škofja Loka was founded in 1955.

1942-1962

Market Leader

Jelovica becomes the leading provider of modern wooden prefabricated housesin Slovenia and builds a factory for the manufacturing of small-panel prefabricated houses.

The company builds the first prefabricated vacation houses.

1963-1974

Award in Yugoslavia

Construction of the Murgle settlement in Ljubljana following the latest guidelines of architectural design.

Jelovica receives an award for supplying 200 prefabricated houses to Skopje (Yugoslavia).

1975-1985

Expansion

Acquired a job for building large-scale prefabricated buildings in Iraq.

Installed a new technology for the manufacture of small-panel prefabricated buildings.

Jelovica developed the S-type series of wooden prefabricated buildings with a remarkably attractive architecture.

In the following 20 years, 3184 buildings of this series were sold in Slovenia.

1986-1998

To The West

Supplied our first houses to Switzerland.

Supplied 77 houses for a residential settlement in Connecticut, USA.

Started manufacturing and supplying large-panel wooden prefabricated elements for Germany.

1999-2007

International Reputation

Supplied 2,000 buildings to the largest German partner company.

Supplied the first 4-storey building to Switzerland.

Installed a new line for the manufacture of wooden prefabricated houses.

2008-2011

12,000

Jelovica supplies its 12,000th house.

Built the first passive nursery school.

Jelovica ownership consolidated.

2012-2015

Going Big

Expansion to the Luxembourg market with the first supply of buildings.

Several buildings with a net ground plan area of over 3,000m2 supplied to the German partner.

Supplied the Swiss partner with a superbly designed multi-storey/multi-family building.

2016–2018

Anniversary

In 2017, Jelovica celebrates 75 years since the construction of its first prefabricated house.

The export share to foreign partner companies exceeded 80%.

2018-2025

What is next?

Modernized production to enhance efficiency and quality.

First in Slovenia to earn the Green Star certificate for sustainability.

Pioneered Slovenia’s first wooden multi-residential building with timber frame construction.

Own energy

Our production is 100 % self-sufficient All the energy we need comes from water, sun and wooden by-prodcts from our production process.

Superb material

Wood is recyclable and renewable. It is also a great thermal insulator, and has superb seismic and fire safety characteristics. We use only certified high-quality wood.

Energy-generating buildings

Our buildings are carbon positive - they store more CO2 than they produce. Combined with energy efficiency, it makes them the best choice for future-proof buildings.
