Energy-efficient timber kindergarten

This energy-efficient wooden kindergarten leverages modern technology to ensure optimal energy performance and a healthy indoor environment. The contemporary architectural design and thoughtful spatial layout support the latest early childhood education methods, offering spacious playrooms and functional areas that enhance the well-being of both children and staff.

Smart architectural design

The two-story kindergarten is designed with shared spaces and playrooms, each with direct access to covered outdoor terraces. The south-facing orientation maximizes solar energy utilization during colder months, improving the building’s overall energy efficiency. The roof features a minimal slope, while the compact façade, enriched with timber elements, enhances both durability and aesthetics.

Sustainable materials are used throughout the structure, with prefabricated timber-frame system forming the external and internal walls, ceilings, and roof. This lightweight yet robust construction method enables rapid assembly and early occupancy. High-performance Jelovica wooden windows with triple glazing further improve thermal efficiency and insulation.

Functional interior spaces

The kindergarten features a versatile two-story layout, including:

  • 9 spacious playrooms, a music room, and dedicated administrative and service areas.
  • A large, double-height multipurpose hall with a sports corner, designed for various activities.
  • A technical space in the attic, housing the HVAC and climate control systems.

Energy-efficient and sustainable design

The building is engineered for maximum energy efficiency, incorporating the Jelovica Termo construction solution, which meets low-energy building standards. Heating is provided by a ground-source heat pump, ensuring minimal energy consumption of less than 12 kWh/m² per year.

By utilizing natural and sustainable materials, this kindergarten is classified as an eco-friendly public building, following the principles of sustainable construction.
